Assassination Attempt on Rudi Dutschke

Date: April 11, 1968 • Location: Berlin, Germany

Rudi Dutschke, the most prominent leader of the German student movement, survived an assassination attempt, which led to the largest protests to that date in Germany.

Alfred Willi Rudolf Dutschke was a German sociologist and political activist who, until severely injured by an assassin in 1968, was a leading charismatic figure within both the Sozialistischer Deutscher Studentenbund in West Germany and that country's broader Außerparlamentarische Opposition.
