Date: December 2, 1899 • Location: Gregorio del Pilar, Philippines
Philippine–American War: A 60-man Filipino rearguard was defeated at the Battle of Tirad Pass, but delayed the American advance long enough to ensure President Emilio Aguinaldo's escape.
The Philippine–American War, known alternatively as the Filipino–American War, Philippine Insurrection, or Tagalog Insurgency, was a conflict from 1898 to 1902 between the United States and Philippine nationalists after the Spanish–American War. The United States ultimately prevailed, and maintained control of the Philippines until independence in 1946, other than a period of Japanese occupation between 1941 and 1945.
